I decided to kick off the series with Dick and Dave from Q99 radio station. The photo shoot was a HOOT to say the least and it was very difficult to choose the final poses for the painting.
I spent more time on this painting than any other thus far in my career. I know more about the technical rig stuff of radio equipment than I ever thought I would, I know the very character of Dave’s teeth and I know now to never paint a landscape into a double portrait. I am pleased with the final piece after weeks of crazy.

I had the absolute pleasure of spending time with this lovely couple. Their energy was contagious as were their smiles. No introduction needed, as we all know of the great maestro David Stewart Wiley and his beautiful wife Leah.
As always, it all starts with the photo shoot. I am incredibly grateful to have the great Rick Sheridan behind the camera! It was not easy choosing a pose for they were all outstanding and full of life.

I introduce to you Brenda Hale and her infectious smile. Known and loved by so many, I feel completely honored to have been able to spend a few precious moments with her for the photo shoot. Brenda worked as a nurse in the army for 17 years traveling to many countries before returning to Roanoke. “That’s all I wanted to do is make a difference. I came back home to Roanoke, Virginia to make a difference.” Hale was first elected as president of the Roanoke Branch NAACP youth council and advocated for educational opportunities for students to pursue college. Her accomplishments in our community are too great to list here!
